Letters Home Artist Reception In-Person

Come Meet the Artist

We invite everyone to come meet artist and MJC alumna, Thelma Salomon-Saldivar, whose works offer visitors a portal into a linguistic landscape where the personal dreams and hopes of refugees and immigrants are woven into a tapestry of shared consciousness.

Salomon-Saldivar's Letters Home exhibition offers visitors a portal into a linguistic landscape where the personal dreams and hopes of refugees and immigrants are woven into a tapestry of shared consciousness. The exhibition runs from January 12 through May 30, 2026 at the East and West Library & Learning Centers. Everyone is invited to a reception to meet the artist at the East Campus L & LC on Friday, January 30, 2026, at 11:30 a.m.

Thelma Salomon-Saldivar was born and raised in Sonora, Mexico, and she immigrated to the United States when she was 25 years old.  She currently resides in Modesto, California, where she started learning English and later adopted her major in photography, achieving her Associate’s Degree from MJC in 2023. She is a student at CSU Sacramento.
