February 2-6 is News Literacy WeekJoin us at the East L & LC to hear speakers discussing how news/journalism is critical to civic life and engagement as well as democracy itself. Various speakers will focus on different aspects of journalism. All events start at 1:00 in the presentation area of the L & LC (walk past the Checkout counter on the right). 

Kyle Stubbs: Social Media, the News, and You

Kyle StubbsHow social media has reshaped how news is produced, consumed, and why those shifts place greater responsibility on each of us to practice strong news-literacy skills in our online environments. 

Kyle teaches an Intro to Mass Communication course emphasizing the power, responsibility, and influence of mass media in today’s rapidly evolving landscape. Spanning topics of journalism, digital media, and communication theory, his approach to teaching encourages critical thinking, cultivates strong media literacy skills, and develops thoughtful practices for responsible media engagement.
